Xylocaine 2% Numbing Cream | Administered on the procedure day & post-operatively

When purchasing the numbing cream we only use Xylocaine 2%. Do not buy any other product.

If you have not purchased it in time text the patient’s name to 0409632693 and arrive 15 minutes earlier and we will apply it and you can purchase it from us as you will need it for after the surgery to help mitigate pain

APPLICATION OF NUMBING CREAM ON THE APPOINTMENT DAY

  • On the day of the circumcision, 30 to 45 minutes before the procedure place the equivalent of a 20-cent piece of numbing cream into the palm of your hand (clean).
  • Place half of it around the base (see image) of the penis and the other half over the head (see image) of the penis.
  • Do not retract the foreskin.
  • If the patient can have Panadol administer this at the same time of applying the numbing cream and as per the dosage instructions on the bottle / packet.
  • For infants weighing less than 4 KG do not administer Panadol.
Xylocaine 2% jelly

APPLICATION OF NUMBING CREAM AFTER THE PROCEDURE

  • The numbing cream can be used after a circumcision to help mitigate pain.
  • The numbing cream can be used 3 times over 24 hours.
  • Place a small amount of numbing cream on the raw head with a clean finger or the applicator in the aftercare kit. 
  • Remove the Vaseline before
    applying the numbing cream, this can be difficult so if it is hurting
    the patient just place the numbing cream on the raw head and remove as much of the Vaseline if possible.
  • As the numbing cream can only be used three times we recommend administering it as following:
  • 1 dosage first thing in the morning
  • 1 dosage at bed time
  • 1 dosage through the day
  • Outside of the numbing cream use Panadol regularly as  per the instructions on the bootle / packet. See above
  • For older children and adults use regular ice-packs. We recommend purchasing 3 to 4 bags of frozen baby peas!. When one bag melts put it back into the freezer and use the next frozen bag.
  • By using all methods the patient should experience minimal pain post-operatively.
