NO NEEDLE VASECTOMY

In a no-scalpel vasectomy the doctor locates the tubes under the skin and holds them in place with a small clamp. Instead of making two incisions, the doctor makes one tiny puncture with a special instrument. The same instrument is used to gently stretch the opening so the tubes can be reached. This line accurately represents the actual size of the puncture (I)

Through this tiny opening both tubes are temporarily lifted out and then blocked using heat cauterisation.

HOW DOES VASECTOMY PREVENT PREGNANCY?

  • Sperm are made in a man’s testes. During sexual climax, the sperm travels through two tubes (the right vas and left vas) in the scrotum, mix with semen (from the prostate and seminal vesicles), and come out of the penis. In a vasectomy, these tubes are blocked so the sperm cannot reach the semen. As a result, you will ejaculate semen without sperm.
  • A man cannot make his partner pregnant without sperm.
  • Also keep in mind that the sperm makes up a minute portion of the ejaculate, approximately 1% of the volume. Therefore, you will not notice any change in the ejaculation post-vasectomy. Your sexual experience, erections, performance, ejaculations are essentially unchanged. Only change is: No more sperm, no more pregnancy!

Understanding Vasectomy:

A Simple Guide for Everyone

Vasectomy, despite being a popular birth control choice for men, is often surrounded by myths and misconceptions. Let’s break it down in layman’s terms, step-by-step, ensuring every bit of information is covered comprehensively.

Vasectomy Simplified

Imagine a road where cars (sperm) travel to a destination (semen). Now imagine a barrier (vasectomy) blocking these cars. That’s essentially what a vasectomy does. It’s a short procedure where the tubes (vas deferens) that allow sperm to travel from the testicles get blocked. So, after the procedure, the semen no longer contains any sperm, which means no more chances of pregnancy!

PENILE FRENULECTOMY

A tight frenulum is a cause of penile pain & bleeding during sex and can be very painful to the point of not being able to enjoy sex.

The frenulum of the penis is a band of tissue located underneath the penis. When the frenulum is tight or short, this is called a frenulum breve. This can result in tension on the frenulum during erections, which can rip and tear during vigorous activities such as sex, causing pain and bleeding, which in turn can cause men to lose their erections.

Some men go through their entire lives suffering from pain and bleeding unaware that there is a cure. The degree of tightness and thickness of the frenulum varies from man to man, but any man affected by an overly short frenular band should seek a consultation for a possible procedure to end uncomfortable tightness with erection. The issue can be addressed by removing or lengthening the penile frenulum.

DORSAL SLIT

WHAT IS A DORSAL SLIT?

A Dorsal Slit procedure is an operation which involves making an incision at the top of the foreskin to relieve tightness preventing retraction. It is performed to relieve strangulation of the glans by a Paraphimosis or to visualise the Urethral Meatus in patients with phimosis. Glans and urethra complications are very low as the glans penis can be easily seen during the procedure with Dorsal Slit method. A Dorsal Slit is rarely recommended because the cosmetic result are unsatisfactory.

WHY WOULD A DORSAL SLIT BE PERFORMED?

Many men need surgery to their foreskin for medical conditions such as ongoing infection under the foreskin, urinary tract infection and phimosis that occludes the opening blocking urination. Unfortunately, some men are not suitable for circumcision due to age, body shape and other medical conditions.

HOW IS A DORSAL SLIT PERFORMED?

A dorsal slit or a cut at the top of the foreskin can often open the foreskin up, while not removing it and is an option for those not suitable for circumcision.
